CCW INFO

Thanks for reaching out to us for elite firearms training!  The information below should answer all your questions.  If not, please reach out to me anytime if I can assist.

Here is our upcoming training calendar page and signup links - https://www.308tac.com/pages/ca-calendar which contain CCW (New & Renewal), Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun, Precision Rifle, Taser, Simulation, NRA, USCCA and other class information, as well as some Introduction to Firearms courses for those who are very new to the firearms world.  We are authorized CCW instructors for CA, UT, NV, AZ, FL, OR, CO, WA, WY, MT, and TX.  Our CCW courses also include permit certificates for UT, AZ, & FL for a small additional charge.

We are Law Enforcement, Military, Govt, and Civilian firearms instructors.  The objective of our courses is to get you started on an advantage path, both mentally and physically, with respect to concealed carry. These classes include the same fundamentals we teach to Law Enforcement, Government, and Military.  They cost more, but worth 10x what you get from any other course.  We also have the latest holsters, handguns, and gear if you need to test or rent various models.  This is our full-time business, and we cater to those BEGINNERS to ADVANCED persons who desire to gain a complete and competitive understanding of their tool in safety, use, and concealed carry.  We do understand some of us are suffering from financial issues these days.  If we can help, we will.  Just ask.

Whether you pursue a CCW or not, these options are geared towards understanding and using a handgun for self-protection.  There is no difference in just taking Defensive Handgun or CCW with respect to the safety, fundamental, and protection training you will receive.  You can always not opt to pursue the CCW permit.

Here's a good video explaining what to expect with a proper CCW course.

We do offer private CCW courses for an additional charge.

CCW SIGNUP OPTION 3 - PACKAGE

This includes CA CCW, UT, FL, AZ courses, all Quals, and rental gear if needed.

CCW Renewals

All CCW Renewals are required to attend the classroom session.  You are required to attend the range portion from 12pm to 4pm and qualify.  You may attend the 8am to 12pm session at no additional charge (recommended).  We do expect RENEWAL students who opt-out of the morning (8am-12pm) session to be proficient with their handgun.  If you are not familiar with the “challenge” command, you should plan on attending.  If you are unfamilair with "trigger reset", you should plan on attending.  And you should be prepared to shoot within an 12" circle at 15 yds.

CCW Expectations

You should expect and receive a new mindset for detecting and avoiding possible threats, the proper use of your handgun using a holster, the techniques required to draw your handgun efficiently, effectively, and properly, understanding that many options come before pressing the trigger, and a  mindset with regards when you are allowed to touch your handgun. Very few courses include these concepts which are manadatory for CCW.  If your are entertaining taking a different CCW class that does not include 8 hours on the range teaching your the fundamentals of drawing from a holster and multiple options for stopping a threat, then you should rethink your decision.  The vast majority of CCW courses by others offer a course with absolutely no holster training, handgun fundamentals, or outdoor techniques that are necessary for concealed carry.  Their sole function is money.  This is a serious mistake.  Ask our (6) students who have had to deploy our techniques in the last 12 months to avoid a shooting!  You need to learn how to drive your handgun from the holster, just like your car.  If you are considering another class, just ask them what holster training they are going to offer and if they understand the importance of “challenge.”

Proficiency

We expect all students to have a base level understanding of their handgun(s) to include:  loading, firing, and unloading.  We expect you to have fired a handgun a minimum of 500 rounds prior to taking the CCW class. The CCW course is not an intro to firearms course.  Please signup for the 2 hr Intro to Handgun course if you need these skills prior to taking the CCW class.  https://www.308tac.com/products/308-tactical-308ccwith-308ccwith-2814

Ranges

Our ranges are outdoor only.  They are private and owned by us.  Drawing from a holster is a main component of this class and the CCW lifestyle.  The vast majority of indoor ranges do not allow this.  A minimum of 100 rounds are required for class, not including what is required for qualification.

Gear / Rentals

We have all gear needed for class if needed.  We also have various handguns for rent if needed. We prefer you do not purchase anything if you are unsure.  We will help you with this process during and after class.

Discounts

We offer LE, MIL and first responder discounts as well as group discounts for any course as follows:

2 persons                           5%

3 persons                           10%

4 persons                           15%

5 persons                           20%

6 or more persons          25%

Note*  Groups of 6 or more may elect to have a private class on the date and time that works for the group.  Just give us a couple date options so we can assist.

CA CCW Process

Here are the requirements (we go over these items thoroughly in class)  to obtain a CCW permit (County requirements may vary):

1. Local Law Enforcement CCW Permit Application submit

2. Phone or In-person Interview

3. CCW Permit Approval (we will discuss in class)

4. Authorized County Instructor Training (8-16 hrs) (2 parts, classroom and range)

4. Written Test

5. Shooting Qualification – all handguns for qualification must be registered in your name.  You may reshoot the qual at any time at no additional cost if you purchase more handguns prior to receiving your CCW permit. If your county requires more recent training due to application processing time, then a revisit at range for shooting and class will be necessary.  There is no charge for this.  We’ll discuss this in class.  We are proponents for training, education, & safety.  The more the better.  Up to 72 rounds are required for initial handgun qualification, and up to 20 rounds per additional handgun.

You may begin the CCW application process at any time.  A comprehensive CCW County list is here - https://www.308tac.com/pages/information  Again, we go over all applications in class.

Also, our video page will give you a fair idea of our idea of proper training - https://www.308tac.com/pages/videos.  Feel free to reach out anytime if we can assist further and let us know you received this as we've been getting pushed to spam lately!

FAQ

Is the 16 hr and the 8 hr course are the same in price, as well length since I couldn't find the information.  Yes.  The price is the same.  Renewal requirement is 8 hrs, however, we find the majority of renewal students who have not received our training are ill prepared for the realities of concealed carry.  We recommend taking the entire 16 hr course at no additional fee.

Does the course includes range fees?  Yes.  It also includes any loaner gear necessary for training.

Can this 8 hr course can be done in 1 day?  No.  There is a classroom component (Part 1), and a RANGE component (Part 2).  Our courses are geared to the person who wants to learn the fundamentals of protection which are not taught by most.  This cannot be accomplished in 1 day.  Our range day is a duplicate of our Day 1 course we teach to Law Enforcement.

Can I mix and match class or range dates?  Yes.  If you can't make one of the days due to scheduling, just drop us a note and pick a day on the calendar that works for you.
